Microsoft announced on the weekend a new keyboard that brings a built-in fingerprint reader. Called the modern keyboard, the new keyboard is the successor of the surface keyboard, bringing in an identical look.
The only changes include the already quoted “hidden” fingerprint reader and the possibility of connecting the keyboard via cable to your device for when you cannot/want to use it in a wireless way.
The modern keyboard’s so-spoken fingerprint reader is located at the bottom of the accessory, between the ALT and CTRL keys, and brings an icon of a fingerprint. With the reader, the user can log in to Windows 10 or on sites through the Windows Hello function.
With suggested price of 130 dollars, the new keyboard arrives soon to the U.S. and will be compatible with the Windows 10 and MacOS platforms, in addition to the newer versions of Android.
Before you begin, make sure that you are connected to the Internet so that Windows can download and install the latest drivers for the keyboard. Then do the following procedure:
Step 1: Connect the supplied USB cable with the Microsoft’s modern keyboard with fingerprint ID to your PC and keyboard.
Step 2: On the keypad, slide the power switch to the connect-it is on the kickstand bracket, above the numeric panel.
Step 3: On your PC, select the notification that appears in the lower-right corner of the screen.
Note: If you have missed the notification, turn off the keypad and reconnect it to appear again.
After pairing the Microsoft’s modern keyboard with fingerprint ID, you can disconnect the USB cable and use the wireless.
The Microsoft modern keypad with fingerprint ID is provided with a fingerprint reader that works with Windows Hello. Once you are configured, you can log in to Windows by pressing a key – it is faster and safer than writing a password.
